Scoliosis (Side Curvature of the Spine)

The human spine follows a straight line when viewed from the front. Scoliosis is the bending of this straight spine to the side.

SO WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF THIS DISEASE?

1- Waist and back pain

2- Posture disorder

HOW IS IT DIAGNOSED?

1-First of all, to understand whether a patient has scoliosis, the first thing to do is a good history, physical and neurological examination.

2-X-ray (Scoliosis X-ray)

3- Myelogram

4-Computed Tomography

5- MRI

HOW IS IT TREATED?

Curvatures of the spine up to 10' are considered normal, and curvatures above 20' are considered scoliosis. Orthotic use and physical rehabilitation are recommended for curves between 20' and 40'. Curvatures over 40' are treated with surgery.

Today, the method used in surgical treatment is to fix the curvature by placing screws in the spine.
